Airport Regulations – Costa Rica

If you are going to Costa Rica pay attention to baggage allowance. You are permitted to bring one personal item and one carry-on bag maximum weighing to 40 lbs/18 kg and with total dimensions up to 45 in/115 cm (length + width + height). Personal items include a briefcase, laptop bag or purse. In addition to this any passenger may check in 2 bags per person. Total dimensions for checked bags may not exceed 80 in/203 cm (length + width + height). Each bag greater than 62 in/157 cm will be subject to a fee. In the case if your bag is overweight or oversize, additional fees will apply.

Oversized bags

Less than 62 in/157 cm - standard fee applies.
62-80 in/157-203 cm - approx $100.
Over 80 in/203 cm - send via Sports Express or other commercial shipper.
